At the North Carolina Farm Bureau’s annual meeting in Greensboro, Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler spoke about the Agriculture Department’s response to natural disasters – hurricanes, wildfires, and droughts – and committed to run for a sixth term as Commissioner.  Commissioner Troxler said, “I believe that my public service is a calling to help people. With all the challenges the state and the ag community have faced, you can see that I’ve had ample opportunity to serve.”

Troxler went on to say, “Agriculture is our state’s leading economic driver. Our farmers feed the world. When I began my first term as Commissioner, agriculture was a $59 billion industry for our state. Today, I am proud to say that we have grown that number to over $103 billion. North Carolina is a national leader in sweet potatoes, tobacco, hog, and poultry production. As I file for reelection, I humbly ask the citizens of our state to place their trust again in me as your Commissioner of Agriculture.”
